PAST EVENTS

Long-term volunteering project aside, we at Hands of Hope organize a variety of events from time to time, sometimes in collaboration with others, not only to generate funds, but also in hope of raising awareness for the refugee communities.

Sowing Seeds of Change Fundraising Campaign (SSOC) 2021

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Hands of Hope took things online and held a series of fun yet interactive events in our first-ever month-long fundraising campaign in early 2021.

The campaign is separated into three distinct sub-categories, including an online forum themed Go Beyond Boundaries, a charity virtual run, and an online talent contest themed I Have a Talent, all planned to help raise funds for the education fees of refugee students.

Past Events

CHARITY MUSICAL THEATRE 2019

One of our largest events at hand (figuratively), Hands of Hope Charity Musical Night features refugee students as performers for the night, including various performances like dramas, plays, traditional dances, choirs etc. Serving as a platform for them to express themselves and showcase their talents, said annual fundraising event once again aims to raise funds for the refugee students' education expenses.

Themed 1973 Miles, the Charity Musical Night held in Mid-October of 2019 tells a story about the lives and hardships of a pair of refugee brothers that fled to Malaysia due a warfare fallout in their country.

My One Day Uni Life (MODUL) 5.0

My One Day Uni Life (MODUL), as its name stands, is an event where the refugee students are invited for an on-campus visit to experience a day of university life. The underlying objective of this event is to introduce tertiary education to the refugee students in hope to motivate them to continue their studies and pursue tertiary education.

Set in July 2019, our fifth holding (5.0) of MODUL focused on delivering basic business and finance knowledge in our programme, which we firmly believe will prove beneficial the refugee communities' self-sustainability.

Charity Bazaar 2018: Colour of Life

On October 2018, we at Hands of Hope organized a two-day charity bazaar titled Colour of Life at Sunway Velocity Mall with the intention of raising funds to support the Chin refugee students in Malaysia alongside those who have resettled in their homeland.

Our bazaar featured various fascinating products for sale coupled with a wide array of activities including a colouring contest, a terrarium workshop, a choir performance by students and many more.
